Readying the Farm
Yesterday I loaded up the car with line trimmers and related equipment to clear some space at the farm for the photos that people will be taking during classes with me. There’s long grass there, which obscured the views of some of the foreground subjects and also you would have needed to walk through the long grass to set up your tripod. So I spent about 4 hours line trimming until both trimmers stopped working. One just needed pliers as the line melted onto the head, the tools for fixing were at home, and the other one turned out to be an easier fix, but by the time I had walked back to the car because I thought it was tricky, I had had enough for the day.
There is minimal internet on the farm and the sun was ensuring I could hardly see my phone’s display, so when I got back home I checked to make sure that I had indeed trimmed the correct places in the correct alignments, and found that some of the spots I trimmed were a bit out of alignment for single images of the Milky Way core at this time of year.
When I took the promotional photos nearly 2 months ago, the Milky Way core was in a different position, lower and more Easterly.
On a more positive note, I found a nice big old dead tree to take photos of which doesn’t need any trimming around it, and also found another dam to photograph.
